XNXX was created in 1997. The ownership by WGCZ Holding became public in 2014 when WGCZ filed a case to resolve a domain name dispute.
In March 2016, The Next Web reported that WGCZ Holding is a Polish company managed by Stephane Michael Pacaud and Deborah Malorie Pacaud.
In 2018, the Indian government blocked XNXX along with other porn websites following a court order from the Uttarakhand High Court. The order was issued during a rape case where the offenders claimed they were influenced by online pornography. In January 2023, The Financial Times noted that WGCZ’s tube sites, XVideos and XNXX, collectively receive 6 billion visits per month.
